Moody Afternoon

Moody Afternoon
11x14, Original Oil on Panel

The fact that we have had pouring rain, lightening and thunder for the last three days inspired me to paint this scene.  I'm not complaining.  My friends in Boston and New York have had to deal with heavy snow and power outages.

I painted this on a panel that had been toned with quinacridone magenta, a color which I hadn't tried for underpainting.  I allowed bits of the pink to show through.  Also, I used mostly palette knife which gives this piece texture.
