Moody Afternoon
11x14, Original Oil on Panel
The fact that we have had pouring rain, lightening and thunder for the last three days inspired me to paint this scene. I'm not complaining. My friends in Boston and New York have had to deal with heavy snow and power outages.I painted this on a panel that had been toned with quinacridone magenta, a color which I hadn't tried for underpainting. I allowed bits of the pink to show through. Also, I used mostly palette knife which gives this piece texture.
I can almost hear the rain!! I love rain and I love this piece, its gorgeous! The palette knife has given it more of a feel of the weather.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Linda! I love the texture you achieved, and as always, your colors are beautiful. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWow! That sky is luscious and quite powerful. I love this piece!
ReplyDeleteIt has an abstract quality - very dramatic!
