Sunflowers and Cobalt
Original Oil, 10x10 inches, Gallery Wrap Canvas
I decided to paint something different today. Normally I don't paint a lot of flowers; but this arrangement was sitting in my studio, begging for attention. The weather has been gloomy and dark for two days, so it was fun to paint these sunflowers. After initially laying in everything with a big brush, I went back and gave more texture to the flowers using a palette knife. I'm happy with the colors, and may try a different arrangement next time.
One of the best features of painting with a palette knife is -- no brushes to wash!

Lovely color combination Linda.
ReplyDeleteProbably painting more flowers would be a good addition to gloomy weather.
Lovely painting! Saw it on Leslie's blog (trying to look at one new artist each day of this challenge). I also love your South Carolina marsh paintings. We visit Pawley's Island every two years or so, and love the landscape.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy. I'm on a mission to find strong color this week. Our local weather forecast is doom and gloom!
ReplyDeleteCindy, thank you so much for stopping by, and leaving your comment. I do love painting our Lowcountry marsh scenes. Pawley's Island is beautiful!
This is so pretty, Linda. I love your cheerful palette and composition. Well done!
ReplyDeleteLove it, especially the blue and yellow together!
ReplyDeleteYou've brightened my day Linda. I love the color combo
ReplyDeleteAnita, you have brightened my day! Thank you for your encouraging words.
ReplyDeleteAlso thank you Sue, and Darla. I appreciate all your support. It motivates me to try even harder.
