I apologize for my absence, but I've recently returned from Arizona. It's been a busy time, and there is a lot of catching up to do. First, I attended the 22nd annual Celebration of Fine Arts in Scottsdale -- an amazing art show featuring 100 very talented artists. This show (known as the "big art show under the white tents") offers the opportunity for artists to really interact with the curious viewer, while demonstrating the process of art-making, whether it be painting in oil, acrylic, or water color -- or sculpture, glass blowing, jewelry making, and more. The show runs from January through mid-March, and the admission price of $12 allows unlimited visits. What a deal for art lovers!
Marilyn Evans (on the left) and sister, Cathy Engberg. You may recognize Cathy, as fellow art blogger, and alum of Karin Jurick's "Hilton Head Gang"!
Sculptor, Paul Rhymer demonstrating the firing of his little bird sculptures.
Then I headed up to Sedona, where I attended the opening reception for the Sedona Art Center's show, A Sense of Place. I am very honored to have a painting in this show, along with 17 other artists from Karin Jurick's 2011 Hilton Head Island workshop. I'll post more about this show tomorrow, but I had to share one more photo with you. This was my view as we approached Sedona, just before sundown -- What a breathtaking sight!
Here are just a few artists I had the chance to meet --

Aaron Bushnel, of Utah is one of my favorite artists. He is young, personable and very enthusiastic. He is also very successful His contemporary landscape paintings are full or rich color and texture. Aaron is featured in the current issue of American Art Collector.
